Klondike Derby

The Klondike Derby is an outdoor winter competition where Scouts from across the region test their skills against other troops. Inspired by the Klondike Gold Rush, Scouts spend the day pulling a gear-filled sled from station to station, completing challenges and earning points based on their performance.

2026 Klondike Stations will include:

• Cooking

• First Aid

• Maps & Compass

• Fire Building

• Pioneering and lashings

• Knots

• Obstacle Course

Throughout the event, each patrol must work together to solve problems and demonstrate Scouting skills. For example, in First Aid, Scouts will be given a patient and scenario to treat. In Maps & Compass, they’ll will be given a course to navigate.

The event runs from approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on a cold January weekend, so Scouts must dress in warm, weather-appropriate clothing to stay safe and comfortable outdoors. More information on what to wear and pack will be comoing out shortly but last years packing list is below.
