The story of Troop 1 in Dauberville began in 1935 at Belleman’s Church, where a group of young Scouts took their first steps into adventure. Leading them was their first Scoutmaster, Harry S. Faust—a man dedicated to shaping character and building skills. For ten years, Harry guided the troop, leaving a lasting legacy of leadership and service. Though he passed away on November 8, 1977, his influence lives on in the traditions he helped create.
After Harry Faust, leadership passed to C. Clifford Fritz—a man whose name would become synonymous with dedication to Scouting. Fritz’s journey with Troop 1 began as a Scout himself, rising to become the troop’s very first Eagle Scout. In 1940, he achieved the prestigious Silver Palm, a testament to his commitment and skill. In 1945, he returned as Scoutmaster, guiding the troop for 13 years. Over the course of his life, Fritz devoted an incredible 40 years to Scouting, leaving a legacy that still inspires today.
In 1957, Raymond E. Bauder, Jr. became the third Scoutmaster of our troop, which was then known as Troop 1. Just a year later, in 1958, the National Council officially changed our number to Troop 154. Ray’s Scouting roots ran deep—he was an Eagle Scout of the troop and had earned the prestigious Silver Palm. Before taking on the role of Scoutmaster, he served six years as Assistant Scoutmaster, learning and leading side by side with the troop. Over the years, Ray achieved numerous honors, including the Scouter’s Training Award in 1957, the Scoutmaster’s Key in 1961, and completing the Wood Badge Course in 1968 in Maryland. In 1980, he received the District Award of Merit, a true recognition of his lifelong service. Ray guided Troop 154 until 1966 but remained an integral part of the troop for an incredible 41 years, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and dedication."
In 1966, Larry J. Henne stepped into the role of Scoutmaster—a position he continues to hold to this day, making his service truly remarkable. Larry’s Scouting journey spans an incredible 72 years, beginning as a young Scout who earned his Eagle Rank along with the Gold Palm Award. His dedication has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Pro Deo Et Patria religious award, Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow’s Kittatinny Lodge, the Scouter’s Training Award in 1972, the District Award of Merit in 1978, the Lutheran Lamb Award in 1996, and the prestigious Silver Beaver Award in 1985. He also completed Wood Badge training in 1970, a hallmark of advanced Scouting leadership. Beyond our troop, Larry has shared his passion on a national scale, attending 14 National Jamborees and serving on 8 National Camp School staffs. For 59 years—and counting—Larry has been the heart of Troop 154, shaping generations of Scouts and even leading as chairman of district Klondike events at Hawk Mountain Council. His legacy of leadership and service is nothing short of extraordinary
